What is Calisthenics?
Calisthenics comes from the Greek words "Kallos" and "Sthenos" meaning "beauty" and "strength". Having first been recorded in ancient Greece as a training mechanism used by the armies of Alexander the Great and the Spartans, Calisthenics is now growing to be one of the most popular forms of training due to its functionality and adaptability. As Calisthenics uses the trainee’s bodyweight for resistance it is a form of training which anyone can undertake. I have personally seen high level calisthenics athletes ranging from 15 to 75 years of age.
